Ongoing Networking Opportunities

Networking tip from Sandra Beale, eZineArticles.com.

"You need to let others know you exist and what you do by becoming highly visible and being set apart from the crowd, which is what good networking skills can provide. Be seen and get known. Look for interesting events to go to; clubs, associations, meetings, seminars, conferences, presentations, breakfast briefings, lunches, or start your own networking club."

Online networking

The following online groups provide playwright discussions on matters of craft, marketing, opportunities, reasonable and unreasonable submission requirements and more.

Bay Area Resources

These groups provide connection with theatres and other theatre artists in the Bay Area.

New Play exchange

The National New Play Network has launched a new membership website where playwrights can upload excerpts or full plays and theatres can search for them.

PSH Playwright Community

Play Submissions Helper has just started its own Facebook group called "PSH Playwright Community."

The group features both articles about playwriting and dialogue between writers who are on the same path in life and want to share their experiences in this industry. We hope to both educate and entertain while also furthering our goals to become produced playwrights. Join the PSH group.

If you are in or near San Francisco, you can join a dramatic writing workshop program offering weekly playwriting and screenwriting exercises, actor readings of your scene work, group feedback and support, and the opportunity to participate in the New Writers/New Works quarterly staged reading series. E-Script for Playwrights

E-script's online E-course is a great training ground for beginning playwrights, and a good place for more experienced playwrights to polish their skills. Each week, registrants receive an online tutorial from internationally-produced playwright Frank Moher on a specific craft subject as well as an electronic "handout" and a related exercise. You return assignments by e-mail, and receive feedback in the same way. Frank will also be glad to respond to general questions and comments at any time.
